Drier conditions, much cooler temps to take hold

With the passing of the cold front, temperatures over the next several days are going to get much cooler. Rain should also be sparse, though a brief chance for some exists Thursday and Friday over portions of western and eastern lower Michigan respectively.

Precipitation as forecast by today's 8am run of the NAM.  Not much to speak of, but some might show up Thursday/Friday, and possibly in the afternoon Saturday.
Surface temps as forecast by today's 9am run of the NAM4KM.  Mild is the word for the next several days.
Surface temps as forecast by today's 9am run of the NAM, valid for this Saturday.  Here's where things really start to get cooler...
The big news though is what may be on the way this weekend. According to the GFS, Saturday's overnight/early Sunday morning's low temperatures may actually dip into the 30s for the first time since spring.

Surface temps as forecasted by today's 9am run of the GFS for overnight Saturday into overnight Sunday.  Yes, that light blue up north suggests temperatures will indeed sink below 40°.
Those clinging to the last throes of summer shouldn't despair just yet, though, as the same model predicts temperatures to return to the 80s by next Tuesday.
