Saturday beginning to look like a great beach day - Sunday not so much

Some good news for people like me who missed the amazing beach day that was Monday - this Saturday might be another (if not quite as good) opportunity to hit the lakes.

Temperatures will be mild in the morning hours, but should slowly climb to around 80° by the afternoon.

Dewpoints will be high come afternoon - in the low to mid 60s - which should make it feel much warmer than it will actually be.
While a stray thunderstorm isn't out of the question, short term model runs are starting to trek into Saturday and they're all suggesting that most of the precipitation should stay to the south of Michigan until the evening hours.  This is due to a warm front to our south and west which is creeping northeastward, and may set the stage for some possibly severe thunderstorms on Sunday; more about that in a later post.  For now, both surface temps and dewpoints are expected to be reasonably high Saturday afternoon, with a mixture of sun and clouds.  Combined with a mild southern wind, this should lead to some very good lakeshore conditions, especially in the thumb area.

According to the latest couple NAM runs, the warm front and associated precipitation should stay to our south until around 8PM EDT
Again, keep in mind that this is a very early forecast, and a stray thunderstorm is by no means out of the question, especially when a warm front is so close and the dewpoints are what they are.  I certainly do not expect any severe weather on Saturday at this point, but even a brief, small thunderstorm contains lightning and can be a killer when you're out on the water.  Plan accordingly and keep an eye to the sky regardless of what you do on Saturday, and hopefully all should go well.
